A better analogy would be what happened to American Indian tribes rather what happened in the Tuskegee Experiments. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;There isn't "an" island either. The Marshall Islands are a whole chain of islands, most of which, save for Majuro, are very difficult to get to. Over half the population of the country lives on Majuro. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;If what you say is true, I think you'd see more of the Bikini people moving back instead of choosing to stay in Majuro and take the money. As far as your trip goes, you said it your self you didn't explore the island much so basically you didn't get a chance to get to know the people.
