It is really exciting to hit that one year mark, isn't it? I can really relate to the last minute frenzy before take off & 48 hours without sleep LOL.

Don't worry about Europe, it can be done cheaper than you think. We winter cheaper here than our RTW family friends did in SE Asia. We live large on very little here and could live much cheaper. If there is a will, there is always a way.

Boy, can I relate to only regretting not doing this earlier! Keep enjoying your bliss! Thanks for a great blog!

Re: 366 Days and Counting

"In the last year I’ve been to the tops of mountains, 100 feet under the sea, flown on helicopters, been to uninhabited islands, seen ancient ruins, been to the world’s largest cities, been inside active volcanoes, had monkeys on top of my head, and been within a mile of political assassination attempt. I’ve seen refugee camps and palaces. I’ve been in deserts, rainforests, mountain ranges and glaciers. I’ve meet some of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. That is nice.

BR

Re: 366 Days and Counting

Happy 1 year travel anniversary Gary! :) Glad you hooked up with Entrecard, or I probably never would've found you. I love your site, and all of your adventures. Check out Estonia if you can, Sean is there now, and says it's pretty cool. You forgot to add, that in addition to all the travelling you've done, you've learned a lot about photography along the way!

Re: 366 Days and Counting

I love following your travels, makes me wish I could do the same. So you know, London is the greatest city to visit. Finding fun rooms there is better with this link , it has the ultimate hotels. I'll be sure to read how your vacation turns out.

Re: 366 Days and Counting

Hello Gary,

I suppose it is about time to sound off. I've been following you for a few months, and love the spirit that you have found! Recently you showed up on a few other places I like to follow, Amateur Traveler podcast, and was surprised when you met up with Dave over at Gobackpacking!

Just wanted to let you know, I appreciate you sharing this adventure with the world. You said something in the post that really has stuck in my head, "...I’ve may have seen more than Captain Cook or Macro Polo." I think that is awesome!

Best Regards,
-Skip

Re: 366 Days and Counting

I agree with the point that why we shouldn't do things like traveling around the world or just exploring new countries EARLY rather than leaving it to after retirement.

Re: 366 Days and Counting

I'm sure this is the case, but it appears that you're having the time of your life.
